When it comes to packaging one of the most discussed issues is sustainability. It is imperative that companies involved in the packaging industry (or any industry) are environmentally responsible. At ibox, we use cardboard everyday to manufacture our products and we recognize the importance of being a sustainable organization.

When you hover over the ‘about’ tab in our website, you can see the steps we take to maintain our environmental responsibility and they are explained in detail. This blog post gives a snapshot of our practices.

All of our cardboard is 100% recyclable and made with 60% recycled materials. Using cardboard products from recycled materials, rather than virgin fibre, saves not only trees, but also large amounts of water (up to 99% less) and energy (up to 50% less).

To maintain a sustainable culture our in-house recycling program is key. For the office we have gotten rid of paper faxes and  use electronic invoices, have dual monitor workstation to reduce printing and designated recycling bins. In the plant there are designated recycling bins, a corrugated waste program and we work hard to optimize truck space to reduce gas milage and emissions.

At ibox Packaging we take the environment very seriously and this is why we are a member of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). SFI is a fully independent, charitable organization dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management. To learn more about it please click here.

Finally, as mentioned in a previous blog post we use vegetable based inks for our printing. To see the advantages of vegetable based inks and the impact it has in the environment, please visit our blog post.
