Every year Pantone comes out with a ‘colour of the year’ which can be pretty exciting for the packaging industry as well as graphic designers. Pantone is known for having some of the best colours and inks in the world. Not only that, but they have a very heavy influence into colour trends that affect the entire design world. For 2016 Pantone has announced 2 colours: Rose Quartz and Serenity!
Pantone explains their choice by stating “[as] consumers seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern day stresses, welcoming colors that psychologically fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent. Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.”
I can already think of a few great uses for these two colors and many others to compliment them. Pantone has already beat me to it with color combinations already on their website here. Using these colours would work extremely well with any health or natural product lines. There is a really good chance that you will start to see some of the bigger retail manufactures pulling these colours into their production lines in the New Year.
