Retail packaging design should be integral to your overall marketing strategy. Retail packaging helps to sell your product and create an image for your brand. Packaging can also help to elicit emotion and connect your consumer to your product.
With 2020 quickly drawing to a close (and believe this when I say we are all thankful for that), we thought it would be appropriate to gather some of our favourite designs we’ve seen so far. These ingenious pasta boxes act as both storage to the dried pasta that they house, as well as a measuring cup so that you can forget about cooking too much or too little pasta. The lid of the box tears off neatly for you to use as a cup. The company’s focus is on health, wellness and sustainability which is translated beautifully through their minimal and elegant branding, as well as the duo use box.

Who would have thought that juice could look so… fashionable? Fressco is an organic juice and shake brand. Contrary to the design principles of minimalism, Fressco is bold, bright, and forces you to take notice. From it’s hyper real fruit depictions juxtaposed against popping colours and a medieval style typeface, Fressco dares you to notice them.

Little Ondine is the picture perfect example of knowing your target market. Appealing to young urbanites, Little Ondine reflects the branding of incredibly successful streetwear brands (think Supreme). Hawking makeup and nailpolish, Little Ondine has elevated the beauty sphere, using gold embossed custom boxes to house gold plated makeup compacts. It feels ultra lux and incredibly on trend all at the same time.

The Unscented Company operates on the philosophy of conscious living. Their products are just as their name suggests, unscented. Their belief is that cleaning products can be natural and do not need to contain any unnecessary scents. While TUC does still offer plastic packaging, they also sell product in refillable corrugated cardboard boxes, which are both beautifully designed and eliminate the need for traditional plastic bottles. These boxes can also be taken to refill stations found in many large Canadian cities.
